Meet Nicole Yawney
providing mental health counselling where you are

Registered Social Worker in Ontario and Saskatchewan
What can you expect in therapy?
an approach to mental health care
During the initial phase, we’ll focus on assessment, gathering your history and determining your goals. The second phase is where our interactions may intensify as we focus on treatment. We’ll work to identify significant events and explore current or past issues with curiosity, discovering what works and what doesn’t when it comes to coping with what you’re going through.

Ending therapy is a natural process, as clients will identify specific goals that they would like to meet. For others, they want a consistent support system. Therapy can be short or long term, but most of all, remember that the choice is yours.
After our first appointment, I’ll ask you if you’d like to book another session to avoid back-and-forth messaging. I appreciate direct communication, so please let me know if you feel I’m not the right fit for you. That’s okay! It’s a normal part of the therapeutic process.
My approach is:
- Realizing our own capacity and strengths
- Embracing laughter and play
- Being, enjoying this moment
- Belonging within

Why Counselling?
Therapy is a tool that can enhance your well-being, but it also requires you to take a bit of a risk—first, by meeting and trusting someone new, and then by being honest with yourself and others. To get the most out of therapy, you need to be willing to try. The length of your therapy journey is based on your goals and what you’re experiencing.

Play Therapy
This approach uses the world of play—including games, toys, puppets, books, art, and talk therapy—to foster communication, address concerns, build coping skills, and support growth and healing.
